Julio Sanchez was born and raised during the 80s in Queretaro de Artega, Mexico. Growing up in the city Julio maintained his indigenous roots while being surrounded by conservative Catholic ideals brought on by Spain. His life became a duality of these two cultures which led him to his two loves. His wife Mariana and the peyote cactus are the two flowers that have guided him to be a student devoted to the humanities while honoring his indigenous ancestors in his art. The dedication to preserving his Wixarika culture is dominated in the chaquira beadwork which he uses as a tool to express his heart.
